*If you listen to the songs while you read the corresponding paragraph, you’ll see your future!
I’ve been getting text messages from a dear client these past few weeks that tell me she is diving deep, then swimming frantically to keep her head above water during this expansive time of new beginnings, big projects, kids going every direction, and the wrap up of summer. It seems everyone is experiencing this. Last night on my Mastermind call, the overwhelming consensus was best stated by Dory in Finding Nemo: “Just keep swimming.” During transitions in life, our needs change. Intensity builds, our focus narrows, and we may not be able to juggle all we have been. We forget we are only one person. Sometimes extra support is necessary. It’s there, we just need to ask for it.
With A Little Help From My Friends
Who is your support team? Is it one friend? Is it a specific group? You know who it is. Call upon them in your time of need. Do they call upon you? It’s time to receive what you have given. We’re all givers here right? I thought so. Let me let you in on a little secret. It’s got to be about you sometimes. This is your life too. I know you want to help everyone else succeed, but how about yourself? Do you deserve your undivided time and energy? The answer is yes. If you hesitated in answering that question, hire a life coach immediately.
Help
When we get busy or have many plates in the air, we tend to neglect ourselves. This is a recipe for disaster. You must keep moving your body to release tension, you must eat good fuel to keep you going, you must sit with yourself at some point of the day and check in. This is a good time to recall how a best friend would treat you, and practice that on yourself. For me it’s listening to inspiring songs or beneficial talks on optimal performance while I run; about honing focus and keeping myself in the flow. This is also a good time to examine your treasure chest of tools and techniques. Pull them out! What has worked for you in the past may work for you now. Otherwise, it’s time for a new rodeo. It’s imperative to know at a moment’s notice what tricks you have up your sleeve to get you to your happy place.
Here Comes The Sun
If it were up to me, I’d tell you how brilliantly you are doing, and point out all the things you are being and achieving at this time. I’d listen for your wins, that you don’t count as wins. I’d remind you to take care of yourself, because without you, there is no one. And to make self-care part of your daily routine, no matter what. I’d whisper in your ear what’s truly important, like love, telling your kids how well they are doing, and your spouse for that matter. I’d remind you to kiss your family and your friends, even when you’re rushing out the door, and tell them how much you appreciate them and why. Focus on gratitude my friends, because what you focus on becomes your reality. And most importantly, at this time, remember to focus on what you want, no matter what is happening in front of you. I will repeat myself for those that missed it, no matter what is unfolding in front of you, focus on what you want. Positive thought and focus are the seeds we grow. Keep your eye on the prize.
