I’m not one who likes to dwell on problems, but it’s hard to deny that our world is not totally hunky-dory. Nations, societies, families, and individuals are all facing endemic—and seemingly intractable—challenges that, in many of us, induce a desire to just hide under the bed. Gandhi would be appalled.

Fortunately, there are in this world peaceful warriors, visionary activists, bold thinkers, empowered advocators who not only imagine a better world for us all, but take steps to turn their ideals into reality. Recently, I was privileged to speak to one: Dennis A. Cohen, founder of an organization and movement called Resolutionaries.

Through this vehicle, Dennis—a family lawyer and professional mediator who was once dubbed the “Robin Hood lawyer” for his work helping parents get their child support from ex-spouses, and who has been a featured guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show, CNN, CBS News, and Sonya Freidman Live—is working to transform political dialogue by helping people discover their shared common values.

If you’re looking for inspiration, motivation, and a renewed belief in our personal power to make our world a better place, I strongly encourage you to listen to our podcast and, if you’re so inclined, attend a local Resolutionaries event or take their pledge by committing to do your part by listening to other people’s viewpoints, communicating with empathy, and withholding judgment or condemnation.
