Yesterday I experienced awe and wonder. I was not traveling far from my home, only fifteen short minutes away. Glory in my own backyard. The mountain was crowded with tourists until we made a right turn on the path toward Rocky Point, the path less traveled. After finding the first breathtaking ridge, I leaned my arms against the circular fence, gazed out to the ocean, and experienced the nurturing smooth wood against my skin. I paused, breathed deeply, and stood in gratitude for my life. I expressed appreciation for all I have, all I am, and all I aspire to be. I reflected on the people and experiences I adore, and the life journey that brought me to this moment. Walking up the mountain, we approached a gully where water once traveled. It stopped me in my tracks. Cool gusts of wind covered my face and entire body, nirvana; it felt as if we had stumbled upon some kind of vortex. People tried to walk past it, and the moment they reached it, they exclaimed, “what is that?” “Join us,” we said. The wind soothed my spirit and cradled me with care. My eyes took photographs at each turn, the landscape was rich with deep color and intricate water designs of time. The ocean backdrop against the mountain was a transparent green, and as we rounded the corner to the edge of the circular path, magically, we saw four pods of dolphins playing in the surf, diving over the crest of waves, as if they were putting on a show just for us. Later, on our way back to the top, we crossed a small wooden bridge where a woman paused to relish the gifts of the sea.  She said, “there are dolphins out there, come see.” It seemed as if they were following us.  Yesterday was an exquisite combination of ideal aspects of life for me. I designed a day of being that I value most. It began with relationships and connection. It continued with solitude, beauty, and nature. And expanded into richness, culture, theatre, and music. I felt alive. I tapped into all of the elements I treasure most and sprinkled them throughout my day. What make up these aspects for you? What does your ideal day look like, feel like, and sound like?
